Gamification in the Aviation Industry
When you constantly think about the future, you’ll know that new innovations have the potential to forever change society as we currently know it. New inventions that spark more ideas to challenge people’s thought process, creating new concepts that often lead to a new industry standard. As we all know, the rapid evolution of the game industry is no exception to this rule. Fields outside of the entertainment realm have been integrating gamification into their strategies, design, and work culture. Gamification is a method embraced by several industries, and today, we’ll be going over how the aviation field is approaching the game industry.
Opportunity in the Aviation Industry
Just imagine you are at the airport getting ready to board your flight. As you walk through the gate and reach your terminal, you manage to get a sneak peek at the cockpit. You may notice less crew inside than usual, some may have machines handling the flight controls. Although this is no cause for alarm, the actual plane is controlled by qualified human pilots at a remote location. With a programming background in addition to a flight certification program for annual starting salary can range, as The Atlanic reports:
Commercial Drone Pilot – $50,000-&100,000 (Note: this depends on the company you are applying to)
Maybe this isn’t made into a reality yet, but some studies suggest that many gamers fly drones better than professional pilots. Many government military branches have implemented remote flight into their defense program, where drones are being operated from afar. A few commercial aviation companies are testing flight for these planes for the public, which would inspire gamification methods in the aviation industry even further than it already has.
